"This neighborhood bar is the best. The food cannot be labeled bar food. It’s too good. The wings are some of the best I’ve ever had and the thick, hand breaded chicken strips and onion rings are amazing. The breading is so light and the chicken is never dry. Try a nightly special or taco Tuesday! Everything is homemade and the soups are outstanding. The prices are more than reasonable. Ice cold beer and great drinks. Thank you Brad, Stacey, Shannon and everyone that makes Dexter’s the best."

"Friends let me tell you about a place on 6th Street in Lawrence Kansas. perfectly situated, with plenty of parking while still being off the beaten path. This is a family-friendly watering hole and restaurant. I entered to a dimly lit but safe and code compliant space with a number of regulars at the bar. I was greeted with welcoming nods and smiles The menu is comprehensive Americana. Chicken fried chicken, world record tenderloins. A patty melt that was technically correct and perfect in every way without overbearing sauce. The salad specials piqued my interest and did not disappoint except I barely finished my entree. The drinks were flavorful but not created for a knockout punch.(Which is the right answer when you're 100 mi from home) I asked for angostura bitters and salad olives on the side with my gin and tonic trying to trip them up and they came through with flying colors. The selection of Gin was not something you typically see outside of five star hotels, mother England, or Central America. And our server knew them all Our entrees were served piping hot, and before I could even get my first drink or coffee finished. Appetizers and deep-fried sides like onion rings arrived quickly. Hot and flavorful, with no hint or residue from the frying vat. Clearly created and plated by someone with culinary talent and formal training. As an ebullient person trying to foment conversation I was immediately greeted and assessed by the owner Brad, who after determining my intentions and demeanor, assisted me with buying a round for the house for less than I eventually tipped our classy attentive and polite server Fresh bright flavorful coffee was available in the middle of the day. If you are traveling to Lawrence on business or pleasure you must not miss this place. I had beautiful fun conversations with people of all backgrounds. Yet there was plenty of room for privacy and quiet with your food and your drinks if that's what you desire. Every competitive ball game of interest to this part of the country was available for viewing on one of the walls, without overbearing volume or wiping out the subdued relaxed vibe. I simply cannot recommend this place enough. Great food great drinks great service and an immersion in local culture and history. In-N-Out in minutes or whyiling away an afternoon. You will not be disappointed. Did I mention the prices? You cannot feed your brood at Sonic or other chain place for twice the money I spent. Support local make friends and maybe just maybe broaden your horizons at Dexter's. You will not regret it."
